GifForThat ("the app," "the extension") helps you find workplace-appropriate reaction GIFs and generates a short corporate-speak caption to match. This page explains what happens to your data when you use it — on the web or as a Chrome extension.

What we collect

We don't have user accounts, sign-ups, or logins. The only information involved is the text you type into the search box.

How it's used

When you type a prompt and search:

• Your prompt is sent to GIPHY's public search API to find matching GIFs.
• Your prompt is also sent to our own serverless function, which forwards it to Anthropic's API to generate a short caption and better search terms.

That's the entire lifecycle of the request. We don't store your prompts, log them, associate them with you, or use them for anything beyond generating that one response.

What we don't do

• We don't use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising identifiers.
• We don't sell or share your data with third parties beyond the two services above, which are necessary to return your search results.
• We don't require or request any personal information — please avoid typing sensitive personal details into the search box, since that text is sent to the third-party services above.

Third-party services

This app relies on GIPHY for GIF search results and Anthropic for caption generation. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle the data we send them.

Chrome extension permissions

The extension requests the clipboardWrite permission solely so the "Copy" buttons can put a GIF link or caption onto your clipboard. It does not read your clipboard or access it for any other purpose.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
